Just to let anyone's who's interested know, I will be in Houston from November 11 to November 13.

You have got to be kidding me.  Auburn lost to LSU.  I call it "The Field Goal Game". Funny thing was, I said to my dad after the first missed field goal that since last year's game was about missed extra points, watch this game be about missed field goals. I must be a psychic.  That or I jinxed them.  Either way, seven (that's 7) freakin' missed field goals in a game, including 5 (FIVE!) by Auburn.  S-E-V-E-N.  . I wonder if that's a record or something.

To top it off for a bad sports weekend for me, Alabama won, and the Astros lost.

On a brighter note, I'm done done done with Gross Anatomy (Woohoo!!!)  Bring on Biochemistry (with its 4 lectures a day, 5 days a week, 1 test every 1.5 weeks for 6 weeks plus the National Board Shelf Exam, whatever that is) and Genetics (which I believe is 3 lectures a day, 5 days a week, and 2 tests in 5 weeks).  So that's 7 hours of lectures a day.  No, I'm not planning on going to all 7 hours (would anyone?).  But at least I won't smell like cadaver goo anymore.

It's Friday!  Mexican and margaritas in a bit.  Yum.

*Minor ranting.  Readers beware.*

From http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/news/story?id=2183971

IOC members cited Major League Baseball's unwillingness to let its players take part in the Olympics and the sport's doping problems as major reasons for the decision to remove it from the games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Olympics supposed to be for "amateur" athletes?  Thus the MLB is (albeit probably unintentionally) staying true to the Olympic spirit.  If professional baseball players were not included (as they haven't been in the past), what difference does it make if MLB's doping controls suck (which, admittedly, they kind of do). Besides, Olympic athletes should be tested for doping anyways, so once again, it shouldn't matter if MLB's doping controls suck.  Players that are caught using steroids would (ideally) be excluded from the Olympics. Just because a few players do cheat, it doesn't mean the whole sport has to be punished. Stupid.

Testing testing 1 2 3

Woo... my first xanga entry ever.  So...until I have something real to write, please visit www.livejournal.com/~lyralpha to catch up on what I've been up to.  Updates on Xanga and LJ might be sporadic because 1) I have no time because I'm in med school and 2) I have no life because I'm in med school (thus nothing interesting to write about, unless you want to read all about Gross Anatomy dissections) but once 1 and 2 are somewhat resolved and/or something interesting happens, I promise I'll post.

Ooh.  And check out my photo website (the link is somewhere on the page).  Right now it just has pics from Scotland 2 years ago, but it'll be updated eventually if I ever get around to taking pictures again and getting my brother to put them up, but once again, see conditions 1 and 2 from above.

I know.  I live a sad life.
